We biked through Kluane National Park, a land of majestic mountains, expansive lakes and open vistas. A stop included the Indian fishing village of Klukshu, which is mostly used during salmon runs up the Klukshu river, where we listened to Martha's stories (at Kevin's request) while drinking tea and eating bannock (an unleaven bread). Lunch was at Rock Glacier, where rocks fractured by freezing/thawing cycles flows down the mountain. The day ended at the Cabin B&B near Kathleen Lake as the rains set in and continued most of the night. Note: Click on image for a larger picture in a pop-up window.

About Klukshu Village

Klukshu Village is a traditional fishing community utilized by the Southern Tutchone as well as the Tlingit, who came from Yakutat and Klukwan. Today many people still utilize this village for traditional pursuits. Many people escape to Klukshu during the many holidays, with summertime seeing the most residencies.
